How Mercury Retrograde, Communication and Death Come Together

solar-system-566537_1280One of my coaches told me last week that Mercury was in retrograde.

In spiritual circles, you often hear people talking about this – I don’t pay a lot of attention to this kind of thing but when referred to, in my experience it has always been about problems with computers, technology, phones etc.  You can read more about it here.

So I was surprised to hear her say that it’s about communication – glitches, yes, but also communication opportunities.

Perhaps that explains why last week there was so much emphasis on this, in various different ways.

On Tuesday I was being interviewed by Woman’s Hour for a programme with two other women about what it’s like to lose your husband or partner. I mentioned my book Gifted By Grief, and we talked about how it is not only possible, but important, to find a blessing in situations of loss. Not always easy, and certainly not if you’re newly bereaved, but definitely it’s possible.

If you follow me on Facebook or you read my last post about how to become infamous through publicity, you’ll know that the next thing that happened was having to cancel an event for national Dying Awareness Week – which led to far more publicity than we would have got otherwise. My blog post on this reached over 5000 people on Facebook.  Woo hoo!

All of these are forms of communication (and none of them I would have been able to do if I was still grieving, so please ignore if you have recently suffered a loss and thinking you ‘should’ be getting out there).

IMG_1391Then last night I was a volunteer model in a Fashion Show in aid of our local hydrotherapy pool.  That’s another form of communication – being visible.

Nothing more visible than being on a catwalk!  I’d looked up You Tube to see how to walk, and although none of my friends was there to take a photo of me on the actual catwalk, here’s a behind the scenes one of me being mother of the bride.

For a woman who was hugely shy as a child, and who in the year after my husband died just wanted to hide away from the world, this was a big change.

So the point is – when you are promoting something (like I want to tell the whole world about how to be more comfortable around grief, dying and death, and my books and courses) you have to get comfortable with being seen.

Is there some way you want to be seen?  Or are you still at the hiding away stage? Just an acknowledgment of where you are is the first thing.

But if you want to be seen, there’s another step. Just notice how comfortable you are with photos, being on stage, being heard, speaking up, saying it like it is. And if you can, take a small step to being more visible in your own area of passion and talent.

Share in the comments below about what you’d like to do – or what you already have done (perhaps Mercury has been assisting you too!)
